MOSCOW, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Kremlin said Tuesday the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow will be a key step toward a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine crisis.
"So this will be, we have no doubt, a very important step towards peace, a peaceful settlement," Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing for Indian media conducted by Russia's Sputnik news agency.
Putin and Witkoff will discuss the understandings reached between Kiev and Washington regarding the search for solutions, he said, adding that the meeting is expected to begin in hours. ■
